Veterans Day Books and Activities for Elementary Students
“I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.”
Lee Greenwood, “God Bless the U.S.A.”
Our country has been honoring United States veterans on November 11 since 1938. As this annual day of observance rolls around this time of year, many children wonder why they have no school, or why adults have the day off from work. These beautiful picture books are a great way to share why we observe Veterans Day: A day on which we celebrate all our American veterans and their patriotism, their willingness to serve, the many sacrifices they have made, and their love of our country.
