“She does love lavender because it’s the color of transformation.”
I heard this quote the other day and it made me stop and reflect for a while about what transformation means to me and why I feel it’s important to be constantly growing and changing. It also reminded me of this dress which is the Kenley Lavender Floral Maxi Dress from Morning Lavender Boutique.
Morning Lavender Boutique is an online boutique inspired by all things pretty. All of their pieces are personally and freshly curated for the everyday woman- a collection that is classic, affordable and feminine. Because they do the searching and styling for you they make your day easier and prettier!
My Kenley Lavender Floral Maxi Dress arrived in lavender printed tissue paper and a real piece of lavender! The light and flowy material and the charming little details such as the self tie keyhole front, ruffled cutout back and delicate details at the waist and sides are all finishing touches that make this the most perfect dress you can find this time of the year and definitely right for absolutely any occasion.
As for what transformation means to me and why I feel it’s important to constantly be growing and changing, I realize that I am simply happiest when I can take a risk, learn something new, and apply it positively to my personal or professional life.
Sometimes just deciding to take the risk and stepping outside my comfort zone is the hardest part. I taught kindergarten for twenty- two years ( my entire teaching career so far) and very soon I will be setting up a second grade classroom for the very first time ever and I’m truly so excited. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences, challenges and reflections here very soon as I welcome a brand new and very wonderful group of 7 and 8 year olds at Harry Kizirian Elementary School in Providence.
I’ve been extremely fortunate to receive tremendous support from amazing friends, family, and donors from all over the country with projects I created on DonorsChoose. It has made this transformation even more exciting and special. I will discuss each of those projects in detail within future posts so I can share the impact of the learning and how and why each project was developed and implemented.
My desire to learn , grow and change to positively make a difference with my students is what motivates me to create the projects but without the support of so many amazing people they would not be possible so I am completely and genuinely grateful for everybody and every donation and sharing of my DonorsChoose classroom. A friend of mine recently told me he noticed that every time he was on social media I’m there thanking someone for something and it’s true! I really can’t say it enough. There are truly kind and wonderful people everywhere it’s hard to not be constantly and forever grateful. We are currently working on a very special project to bring hands-on art and writing materials into our classroom so the children can create long-lasting representations of themselves to celebrate their diversity in a permanent and meaningful way. All details are here and any small contribution is of course extremely appreciated!!
Speaking of transformation and changing, lavender itself is not just special because of its appealing aroma, it is known for curing insomnia, stress, and anxiety and also known for the all natural ingredient inspiring products it can be transformed into. It can be easily made into soap, candles, lip balm, tub tea, and a sugar lavender body scrub as you can see here.
My favorite way to transform lavender is to make Lavender Lemonade. Have you ever tried it? I have a really simple recipe I’d love to share!
It’s a perfect drink if you can make quickly and then steal away to a quiet spot to savor.
Here it is!
12 oz can frozen lemonade concentrate
1 gallon cold water
1/4 cup dried lavender blossoms
2 cups boiling water
Garnish: mint or lemon balm springs
Follow these easy steps.
Combine the frozen lemonade concentrate with cold water, mixing well. Steep lavender in boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain lavender blossoms from boiling water and discard. Combine remaining lavender concentrate with prepared lemonade. Chill well, garnish with a mint or lemon balm sprig.
