I am completely amazed by the collection of entirely handcrafted jewelry I discovered at Aries Artistic Jewelry. It is both organic and upscale with a touch of bohemian flair I adore. I find the combination of elegant yet boho so "right now" but also so classically appealing. Each necklace, ring, earring and bracelet is individually designed and created by Sue Fontana in the comfort of her home studio in New Jersey. When she needs inspiration she and her dog walk out back and take a stroll through the woods to see what nature has to offer. Her goal is to create pieces that are upscale, yet affordable and comfortable with everyday wear. A wonderful mix of materials such as gemstones, freshwater pearls and leather. Each piece is designed and crafted to ensure fine jewelry that has all of the style and none of the fuss!
Sue feels that nature itself is beautiful...flaws and all and I agree. We should be comfortable with our perfect imperfections.
She created Aries Artistic Jewelry as a connection between woman and nature.
Susan learned to appreciate nature as a young child- turning over rocks, finding interesting textured bark and collecting unique leaves. It was always there for her whether she needed to reflect in the quiet of the deep woods, scream out during a thunderstorm or just have fun splashing in a puddle. She feels that people look at nature with their souls and accept it without wanting to change it. We should definitely do the same with ourselves and others. I love the way Sue's vision and philosophy is reflected in each piece of jewelry she creates.
She designs the pieces with nature in mind and wants the wearer to embrace who she is at the moment and to be an encouragement to be confident in who we are as we carve our own individual paths through life. Her pieces also have a sculptural quality to them and it's not surprising that she studied Architecture at Princeton. You can really see the depth in her pieces such as the fluid fold-form silver and shadow box creations as well as the dimension that is added to the silver with her signature scratched matte finish that is both soft and unique.
These are my first pieces from her line. They are all from the Pearls of Wisdom collection. Find this complete collection here.
Sue created this particular piece out of silver metal clay, which is the main medium she works with. It consists of small particles of silver and is mixed with an organic binder and water to make a very malleable substance like modeling clay. She loves using it because she can mold and shape and really give dimension to her work. When it is fired in the kiln the binder burns away, leaving a pure silver piece (99.9% silver) which means no tarnishing. For this particular piece which I am wearing with my new Shein dress which you can find here the pendant is fine silver (99.9%) and houses a freshwater pearl. It also has a flat round pearl that dangles from the pendant. The chain is a rosary style chain consisting of freshwater pearls and sterling silver links.
Find more of her jewelry here and also in her Etsy Shop found here. It is made of precious metal clay. Some is fine silver ( 99.9%) and some sterling (96.5 vs. normal 92.5). Sterling is stronger so usually rings and pieces that need a bit more strength require the sterling but because they have a higher content of silver you still have less tarnishing effects. She keeps creating and sharing on her Instagram account which you can find here.
Sue is happy to connect with you and also creates custom pieces. She wants all her customers to celebrate their true beauty and for people to feel that they can be unapologetically themselves. Find a treasure from her line or she will design something just for you or a loved one celebrating something special in their life. Feel free to leave her an email here.
My backpack is the Star Turnlock Backpack in brown from Hieleven and can be found here. It feels so luxurious and smooth. It is the first backpack style I have found thati felt was elegant enough to wear with a dress and also practical and roomy enough to use when out and about on a summer adventure. It is made of 100% split cattle leather and has a very sturdy and classy turnlock in gold. It's lined with polyester and has several pockets inside. I love how the shape fits so nicely and feels so comfortable whether I wear it on my back or over my shoulder. Follow @hieleven on Instagram here and be kept up to date on sales and new arrivals.
My dress is from Shein, the same place I found that awesome white dress I blogged out and wore on Easter and Mother's Day. Find the posts here and here. I recently wore and blogged about a vintage maxi dress from Shein as well here. I was really happy with this Halter Laser Cut Bow Tie Backless Dress. Order it for less than $20.00 here.
