Growth Mindset Reflections: Featuring Shein's Colorful Faux Fur Vest & On-Trend Ultra Sexy OTK Boots From Just Fab
Hello Everyone!
It's been a wonderful and busy start to Fall and the new school year. My children love their school, teachers, classes and all their extra activities! It's amazing to see their enthusiasm every day as they have fun and work hard to achieve their goals. My husband and I are both teachers in the city of Providence and we are also working hard and having fun as we try to be the best we can for our own children and the amazing families we are privileged to work with.
We try to encourage and create a culture which promotes a growth mindset both at home and at school. What that means simply is that we believe we can develop our talents and abilities through hard work, good strategies and help from others. It is the opposite of a fixed mindset, which is the belief that talents and abilities are unalterable traits, ones that never can be improved.
Research shows that a growth mindset can have a profound effect on the success of children and I feel that personally it has also helped me as an adult to embrace challenges. I've learned to accept criticism and learn from mistakes. I've learned that just because something isn't happening easily and quickly doesn't mean it won't ever happen. It will just require more work, effort and possibly a different approach.
Having a growth mindset has helped me to choose only the most meaningful work and activities and be more reflective while moving forward in all aspects of my life.
It's been said countless times by so many people and and it's true. Children learn by what you do, the example you set, rather than what you say. My children know that we all, kids and grown ups, need opportunities to revise our work, learn from our mistakes and show our learning even if we haven't reached our goals yet. Whether it's trying and trying again to master a new recipe or learn anything new I like to show how I fail as well as how I succeed. Just because I haven't mastered something doesn't mean I never will, it just means I haven't mastered it yet. I hope my children never give up on dreams and ideas that are important to them and realize that 'not yet' means they can work harder or in a different way and succeed.
The weekdays are super busy for my whole family but fun and productive at the same time. This weekend we are in the midst of Halloween parties, cheerleading practice, pumpkin painting, cupcake making and working on William's Saint project for November 1st (All Saint's Day).
I wanted to take a few moments to share my most recent Shein find. Those of you that have been following me a while know I have a vast collection of dresses from Shein which I wear more often than anything else in my wardrobe. I was actually searching for another dress when I was drawn to this colorblocked faux fur vest. The colors are even more gorgeous in person than you can possibly see here. It is fully lined and the faux fur feels completely luxurious. Needless to say, I'm happy I choose it and will definitely be wearing it throughout the next few months.
When I first decided to add this piece to my wardrobe I pictured myself wearing the vest with leggings or jeans and a tee shirt. Then in came in the mail and I couldn't stop talking about it to my friend, confidante and hairdresser Jannine Hansen. Jannine, who is a star at my local Supercuts, definitely thought that although I should wear it with jeans, leggings and eventually absolutely everything I own, I should show it here today with one of my favorite Guess Brand cocktail dresses from Thredup and my new boots from Just Fab. And I have to mention that the entire look is less than $100! Seriously! I have to admit that my boots were such a low price because I am a VIP member at Just Fab but you can be too! Use my invite link ( here) and choose your first pair for $10.00!
The cute little bag is actually my daughter's. My godmother bought it for her one Christmas a few years ago when Angelina was in a Parisian stage. I believe it had something to do with a novel about an American Girl doll. Anyway, my aunt found it at Crewcuts and Angelina and I both love it.
What do you think? How would you style this vest? As I type this I'm thinking maybe next time I will add it to an all black look. I'd love to hear your ideas and also where you are finding great affordable pieces that you love lately.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog today. I hope you enjoyed this post and found it worthwhile.
